Is Leonardo da Vinci EES ready?

Medium readiness

Rome Fiumicino has deployed EES lanes but staffing varies seasonally. Manual checks are likely in June–September. Allow significant extra time during peak season.

About Leonardo da Vinci Passport Control

Rome Leonardo da Vinci–Fiumicino Airport (FCO) is Italy's principal hub, serving nearly 45 million passengers annually. EES biometric checks apply to all non-Schengen arrivals across Terminals 1, 2, and 3. Italy operates additional staffed EES lanes during peak summer season to manage the high volume of UK and US visitors. On morning banks of wide-body arrivals from London and New York, congestion can build quickly — allow extra time.

Busiest periods: June–September and Christmas. Summer Saturday mornings are the peak of the peak.
