Low readiness

Lisbon has limited EES kiosk capacity relative to its passenger throughput. Manual border checks are common and queues can be significant, especially during summer.

About Humberto Delgado Passport Control

Humberto Delgado Airport (LIS) is Portugal's primary international gateway and handles large volumes of UK, US, and Brazilian traffic. EES biometric registration applies to all third-country nationals in Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. Lisbon airport has relatively constrained EES kiosk capacity compared to its total passenger throughput, which can result in longer queues during summer peak compared to larger northern European hubs. Allow additional buffer time for morning inbound banks from the UK.

Busiest periods: July–September and Christmas. UK package tour departures can create surges on Saturday mornings.
